The adjoining example is representative of a compact garment system for healthcare articles. This system works on the "First In-First Out" principle. Garment sortation is therefore not necessary.
At the beginning of the process the garments are loaded on hangers at the four Kannegiesser feeding stations which are height adjustable to allow for proper ergonomic operation. With the infeed position, the operator can decide whether to create an open or a closed folding pattern. As all garments in this system are being folded, special hangers for folding robots are used. To accommodate garments that are not folded, a special adaptation for “one way hangers” could also be realized. This can be achieved with modifications and the addition of optional equipment.
By means of a collecting and storage conveyor the garments are transported from the four hanger loading stations to the tunnelfinisher XMT-3. With this transport conveyor there is a constant feeding of the tunnelfinisher. After the finishing process the garments are transported by an ascending conveyor to a second storage conveyor. At the end of this conveyor the garments are distributed to both of the folding robots FA-X 700.
The empty hangers are returned to the hanger loading station via a storage and transport conveyor. In this conveyor a mechanical hanger spreader opens the hangers for charging.
